I love the look of fabric cuff bracelets, and I love that they are so simple to make! I made this one from repurposed denim from old jeans.
Here’s how I made it:
Cut 2 pieces from denim and one from interfacing. I cut mine 8″ long by 2″wide. Depending on how wide you want your cuff to be, you may want to cut yours wider. Iron on the interfacing to the back of one of the denim pieces.
Cut a 3″ long piece of 1/8″ round elastic.
Position loop of elastic on the end of one of the denim pieces on the right side of fabric. Tack in place by hand
or machine.
Pin right sides together and sew a 1/4″ seam, leaving the middle of one of the long sides open to turn.
Trim seams and corners and turn right side out. Use a knitting needle to get the corners sharp, but be careful not to poke through the fabric ( like I did).
Press bracelet flat after you get the kitten off your ironing board.
Decorate your bracelet! I topstitched close to the edge to close the opening where I turned the bracelet right side out, added a button, did some decorative stitching in green and red and added beads and little dangling leaf charms. The fun thing is that you can decorate these any way you want!
Here is another one I made. Instead of sewing it right sides together, I just sewed it together so that the raw
edges would be exposed. I sewed on a wide ribbon and did some decorative machine stitching, and added a button.
This is another one that I made with raw exposed edges. I used a length of eyelash yarn, used decorative machine stitching, buttons, and some leaf trim. The diagonal white fabric is cut from a used dryer sheet!
These are so fun to make, I’ll be sewing more for Holiday gifts. I hope you’ll try it. Let me know if you do!
